with Jamar + Nicole
Ever wondered how to pull off a Colorado surprise engagement? Well Jamar and I planned for months to surprise Nicole when she returned from her year-long work trip to Thailand. They had spent this whole time apart, communicating only through messaging apps. They knew they were meant for each other after meeting at their church, and then dating for only a month before Nicole had to leave. Their connection wouldn’t fade, even over thousands of miles, and Jamar knew he wanted to propose the moment she returned. We planned a surprise engagement photoshoot with a hike to some natural hot springs, and a dirt road adventure in their G-wagon. Nicole was very surprised, when Jamar dropped down on one knee immediately after parking and I jumped out of my car to capture the moment. After letting the moment settle in, we started our hike to the hot springs with our champagne in hand. The views from the river were stunning, and after getting our fill of good conversation with strangers and soaking in the springs, we headed up the mountain to enjoy the afternoon breeze and fading light. This whole session proves that the moment is more important than the backdrop! Helping to plan and create an entire session around their love and commitment to each other, no matter where he actually proposed (in a parking lot vs a mountain top), feeling that moment to its fullest is the most important part of your Colorado engagement photos.
