Jamar + Nicole’s October wedding at Solterra
Having a fall wedding in Colorado can be a luck of the draw with snow storms ready to drop at any moment. It snowed for a few days before Jamar and Nicole’s October wedding, then the sun decided to celebrate that day with us at the Solterra Event Center. Their day started off with their best friends getting ready with them, then a private first “look” where the groom didn’t look! He wanted to wait until the ceremony to see his bride, but they also wanted to do a prayer between just the two of them before she walked down the aisle. So he kept his eyes shut the entire first look while they both said their prayers for their marriage to each other. Their ceremony overlooking the Colorado foothills was filled with meaningful moments, like intimate act of washing each other’s feet and dancing away from the ceremony together, barefoot.
The night continued with the best dancing, choreographed danced lead by the bride, and the first “album cover” photo I ever took with the wedding party rapping down at me while I lay on the ground. I have continued the tradition of album cover photos with my other weddings since, and it has become one of my favorite photo traditions. People like Nicole and Jamar, and their family and friends make me feel beyond fortunate to be a wedding photographer and have the chance to connect with people whom connection is also important.
